124,000km Service

It's time for a service again but this time round, it's a lot more hurtful to the wallet. Besides the obligatory Torco SR1 10W-40 and a Nissan oil filter (Part No. 15208-53J00), I got the HKS GT-RS turbine rebuilt as well. It well sort of uhm ..... blew up.

So it was removed and sent to an authorized Garrett distributor to be looked into. A new Garrett CHRA GT2871R was ordered and in it went into the HKS GT-RS housing. That certainly put a huge dent on my wallet but at least it's now as good as new, literally.

With my new Tommy Kaira Digital Meter Cluster, the mileage now actually reads 108,000km. Will be using this reading from my onwards.

HKS Super Filter element change

Pic 1: HKS Super Filter

I didn't change the filter on my HKS Super Power Flow DD (Direct Drive) for ages. So long in fact, I was utterly surprised to find it already broken down. A large chunk of the filter has already disintegrated!

Quickly went to get a replacement and in goes the dry 3 layer HKS Super Filter. Wanted any other colour other than green but fortunately that's what they have in stock. I need it in a hurry thus didn't order it in myself.

Did a quick change and now it looks and performs better. :)

BNR32 Halfcut

Pic 1: BNR32 halfcut

Helping a mate of mine sell this. So yeah, it's not like I have a halfcut lying around at home. LOL :D

This is a BNR32 halfcut. Come with the whole front cut plus all seats (FR & RR), Blitz exhaust, prop shaft, complete rear axle, etc... (and lots more)

One of the plugs is flooded thus suspect a piston is dead. Block is ok thus a piston replacement is needed and it will be fine. A lot of goodies in the car as evident from the pics; Okada Project Coils, HKS Intercooler, Apexi air filter, Zeal coilovers, etc.....

No. Will NOT strip parts off it. Selling as a package.

Please email me (eujin[at]hotmail[dot]com) if there is any queries. Worldwide delivery can be arranged.

Nismo 480cc injectors (16600-RR710)

Pic 1: Nismo 480cc injectors (16600-RR710)

As per my previous rant post here, the ER34 is maxing out it's stock 370cc injectors at around 5,000rpm. That is indeed not good at all.

There are a lot of choices for replacement out there from the ever popular SARD injectors of various cc to the offerings from HKS. There are also slightly cheaper alternative injectors from Deatschwerks that I have seriously considered some time ago.

Pic 2: Nismo 480cc injectors

Deatschwerks have a very competitively priced 440cc, 600cc and 800cc injectors for the ER34. In the end, I've decided on something "out of the ordinary". I opted for the Nismo 480cc injectors (Part No. 16600-RR710). Besides the ER34, these will also fit the CPV35, C35, Z33, WGC34, and WGNC34. If you're wondering, these retail for JPY13,500 per injector. Yes, it is costlier than the bigger cc SARD variety.

Pic 3: 4 hole spray pattern injectors

What is unique about these Nismo injectors is that instead of a single or dual spray nozzle, it has 4 spray nozzles per injector. Yeap, so in summary it is a top feed high impedance 4 hole spray pattern injector. As you can expect, with 4 sprays, you'll get very nice atomisation. These are pretty hard to come by. I've yet to know of anyone using these in Malaysia. Rare stuffs! :P

Why just 480cc and not go for higher cc injectors like the offering from SARD? Well I reckon I do not need such a high cc injector. It's good to have but afterall, my horsepower aspirations aren't that big. It's not, well, a GT-R so my power level will be pretty much conservative in a way. These should very well suffice for my needs. On the plus side, the uniqueness and exclusivity is great! These will fetch a darn good price in the market.

Hey, that gave me an idea! Should I sell these off and get bigger injectors from SARD? Hmmm .....
:P

A week in Singapore .....

Pic 1: Errr...this pic is just to get your attention. Yes, it's in Singapore. :)

I was in Singapore the whole of last week. The last time I was there was back in 2008 when I took my niece and nephew for a short tour of the island. So yeah, it has been a while since I step foot on uniquely Singapore. :)

This time round it was not so much of a leisure trip but rather for some meetings and of course the opportunity to meet up with some friends. I've got to meet Roy who owns an ER34 with the exact same bodykit as mine. It's unreal I tell ya! My ER34's Singapore twin. :P

Pic 2: Roy's IMPUL 534S kitted ER34. Love those BBS wheels

Thanks bro for spending a whole day with me going to workshops and hanging out at your place. Really appreciate the hospitality. I'll return the favour when you do come to KL ya.

Well the only "tourist" attraction (besides Orchard Road) that I managed to drop by is Resorts World Sentosa and Universal Studios. Nope, I didn't gamble but I did go in to the casino check out the place. Pretty packed I must say; gamblers from all over the world, well mostly from the Asian region. Asians are natural born gamblers??? :)

Pic 3: Yours to win in Resorts World Sentosa

I didn't venture into Universal Studios as well. Going to a theme park alone is just so weird. LOL. Perhaps next time. I wonder how would the experience be like with the hot and humid weather of Singapore. Sure ain't gonna be like going to the Los Angeles version. I miss LA!

Pic 4: This is as close as I get to visiting Universal Studios Singapore

Anyway, Singapore is cluttered with "supercars". I see Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborghini, Audi R8, R35 GT-R, etc... everywhere. And more often than not, the drivers are pretty young in age. Damn..... :O

I did ask a taxi driver and also the hotel bell boy, "How come these young chaps can own Italian/German supercars?". Funnily enough, both of them commented the same thing. They say that these guys earn a lot of cash (bankers perhaps) and therefore dumps all of their income on a flashy car. They might have little/no savings. I dunno how true tho .....

Anyway, here's some pictures that I managed to snap. :)

Pic 5: R35 GT-R or Audi R8? Tough choice?

A change of the HKS Super Filter Element

Pic 1: Out with the old filter element ...

Yes it's time to change the HKS filter element on the
HKS Super Power Flow DD (Direct Drive). Just a quick swap, out with the old and in with the new. It now looks bloody red eh?

Why are my filter element red? Well I've seen fakes of the filter elements in the market and they are all green. So I reckon I better be different; and thus I had been running red coloured elements since my first replacement. :)

Allrighty now, that is just a quick little update. There's more important matters to be done with the ER34. Moving on to more important stuffs later ......

Pic 2: ... and in with the new. :)

For Sale: HKS Stroker Kit (2,800cc) - Step 3

Uhm ..... yeah. I'm selling off my HKS 2,800cc Stroker Kit. The kit consists of HKS conrods and HKS crankshaft only. There will be no oversized pistons (87mm) with the kit. No fret, those can be procured quite easily from Japanese/American makes. You can get it from HKS, Tomei, CP, Arias, Mahle, etc...

For those that are interested, this will bolt right onto your existing RB25DET or RB26DETT engine and making it essentially a 2,800cc engine (Well if you want to be precise, it's actually 2,771cc).

Honing of the cylinder block will be required to fit in the bigger pistons so be aware of that portion.

HKS essentially made 3 versions of the stroker kit. Logically, it is named Step 1, Step 2 and Step 3. Each of them cater to different power aspirations from the owners/tuners as the below list will illustrate:-
HKS 2.8L Kit Step 1 Rated 441kW(600ps)
HKS 2.8L Kit Step 2 Rated 588kW(800ps)
HKS 2.8L Kit Step 3 Rated 882kW(1200ps)

Pic 1: HKS Conrods

The one I am selling is the Step 3 version, so yes it is a very serious piece of gear and also commands serious Mariana Trench depth wallet. HKS no longer stocks these on its shelf and I am not too sure if they will make them on order thus it's going to be a pretty hard kit to find in due time.

With the stroker kit installed, the bore will be increased from 86mm to 87mm and the stroke will be increased from 73.7mm to 77.7mm.This kit provides improvements in torque during low to medium speed as required in street driving whilst also provides high horsepower output coupled with low frictional losses required for more spirited drives.

Depending in the size of the head gasket used, this piece of kit will lower the compression ratio as per the below:-
8.70 (Headgasket thickness = 1.2mm)
8.4 (Headgasket thickness = 1.6mm)
8.1 (Headgasket thickness = 2.0mm)

Pic 2: Close up of HKS Conrods

Pic 3: HKS Conrods

The HKS Conrods that are in the stroker kit are made via high pressure forging. High tensile bolts, which I believe they are from ARP judging from the engraving marks on it, are used to prevent cap opening during high inertial forces generated at high RPM loads.

The HKS Crankshaft is also made via pressure forging. It is full counter form, balanced to high tolerances where smooth revolutions are ensured. This results in loads being evenly distributed onto the metal surface, and reduces frictional loads. The crankshaft manufacturing process is completed with a special hardening process to ensure increased reliability at high RPM loads, and reduce fatigue.

Pic 4: HKS Crankshaft

Again, I need to mention that the HKS forged pistons (nickel plated & the piston surface has a final molybdenum coating) are NOT included in this sale.

So if you're itchy for high horsepower and have to get that itch scratched, shoot me an email (eujin[at]hotmail[dot]com) and we can work out a deal. Delivery to any part of the world can be arranged.
