Super GT Rd 4 in Sepang International Circuit

Pic 1: Start of Super GT Rd. 4

The Super GT round 4 in Sepang International Circuit was won by HASEMI TOMICA EBBRO GT-R driven by Ronnie Quintarelli and Hironobu Yasuda for their first victory of the season.

The HASEMI TOMICA EBBRO GT-R’s starting driver, Quintarelli, kept that lead to lap 30 before turning the wheel over to teammate Yasuda at the routine pit stop. Once Yasuda took over, he was never threatened for the lead, due in part to a furious battle for 2nd position raging behind him. Eventually, he ran on to victory with a big lead over the field.

In the GT300 class, the I.M JIHAN CO. LTD APPLE Shiden driven by Hiroki Katoh and Hiroki Yoshimoto staged an furious charge from the very back of the pack to win a stunning victory. It’s indeed an amazing feat to start at the tail end to become the podium winner!

Overall, I felt that the Super GT this year is not what like it used to be. There were little marketing and promotions done and the crowd peaked at only 30,000 people on raceday. This is a far cry from what it used to be. And if not for the free entries for those JDM owners who displayed their cars, school kids, corporate passes, free tickets, etc......the crowd would be even lesser.

I've been to every single Super GT round in Malaysia since it started in the year 2000 (minus year 2003 when the event was canceled due to SARS outbreak). I dare say that the enthusiasm has somewhat dwindled compared to when it first came here.

Did you say Race Queens? Yes of course they were there. Race Queens are afterall part of the race, and plays an important role to uplift atmosphere. But I do think the quality uhm...dropped year after year. :P

I will post more pics of cars and race queens later. Need time to choose and edit my 5,400 pics. Plus now also on the road due to work. :(

SuperGT International Series Malaysia 2009

Pic 1: SuperGT !!!

This coming weekend (19th to 21st June 2009), Sepang International Circuit will roar with the thunderous sound from the Super GT machines. 33 teams from GT300 and GT500 class will be blazing around the circuit for 54 laps on raceday; Sunday 21 June.

Thus far, about 50 shipping containers have already arrived in preparation of the race. This means the cars, parts, equipments, etc... are already being prepped/setup as you read this.

Sepang International Circuit expects 50,000 spectators coming for the race judging from ticket sales and previous year responses.

Pic 2: The containers are here!

Besides Super GT, there will also be supporting races from Formula V6 Asia, GT3 Asia and the Aston Martin Cup Asia.

Tickets of the Main Grandstand can be purchase at only RM100. Sepang International Circuit is also offering a special family package at RM250 for four Main Grandstand ticket. Free admission for children seven-years-old and below. Passes for Sunday's Pit Walkabout and Circuit Safari are sold at RM100 each.

See you this weekend!

Here are my post/pics from last year.

For Sale: R34 headlights #02

Pic 1: R34 headlights

I've another set of R34 headlights for sale. As with the previous set
here, this unit is in excellent condition. It comes with all wiring sockets, bulbs, HID ballast and all brackets are in place. Those that have missed out on the 1st set that's for sale, do not let this offer go past. This is a reluctant sale as I needed the cash to fund a future project.

Pic 2: Clean and clear headlights

Pic 3: HID ballast and brackets all in place. Sorry, didn't have time to give it a good wipe :P

Trust MX Front Pipe

Pic 1: Trust MX front pipe arrived in this packaging

Recently got hold of the Trust MX front pipe (Part No. 302-NS005). The front pipe has an internal diameter of 80mm and is mandrel bent which greatly reduces exhaust resistance after the turbocharger.

Pic 4: Part No. 302-NS005. I think the Jap words means for competition use only. :P

This front pipe only weights 3.5 kilogrammes! The factory pipe weighed just a kilogramme more as measured on my electronic scale. Anyway, I've just got this installed. I think there would be some differences in power output after this, never bothered to get any official figures tho. :P

The ER34 somehow sounds a tad bit different after the front pipe install. Heck, even the blow off valve sounded a bit different from what it used to sound like.

Flames are still there but think it's less pronounced now. :)
