BNR32 Halfcut

Pic 1: BNR32 halfcut

Helping a mate of mine sell this. So yeah, it's not like I have a halfcut lying around at home. LOL :D

This is a BNR32 halfcut. Come with the whole front cut plus all seats (FR & RR), Blitz exhaust, prop shaft, complete rear axle, etc... (and lots more)

One of the plugs is flooded thus suspect a piston is dead. Block is ok thus a piston replacement is needed and it will be fine. A lot of goodies in the car as evident from the pics; Okada Project Coils, HKS Intercooler, Apexi air filter, Zeal coilovers, etc.....

No. Will NOT strip parts off it. Selling as a package.

Please email me (eujin[at]hotmail[dot]com) if there is any queries. Worldwide delivery can be arranged.

HKS Type S Intercooler Kit Installed!!

Pic 1: This is going in!

Pic 2: Test fitting the intercooler

I have an illegal product in the ER34. :O

"This product is designed for use in Japan only. It must not be used in any other country", says the manual booklet of the HKS Type S Intercooler Kit. Ooops.

Yes my fellow readers, I've finally got the front mount intercooler kit installed onto the ER34. In the process of getting it in, the ER34 had to be put on the surgery table and caused quite a fair bit of heart ache on my side. :(

Pic 3: With piping kit installed

I must commend HKS for the intricate details in making this kit set. Every bracket and fittings gel in perfectly onto the ER34. I'm quite surprised that not a single welding is required at all. Everything bolts on into place.

Pic 4: This part got to be trimmed off :(

Pic 5: Ouch!

Pic 6: Bye-bye metal

Of course the front bumper got to be removed for the job. Part of the "Carrier Assembly - Front End Module" also got to be removed and trimmed to clear the intercooler. This is where the heart began to ache a little bit. When everything is properly fitted onto the car, the dreaded moment came when the bumper had to be fitted back in. Somehow or rather I've got a feeling that the IMPUL 534S bumper will not clear the intercooler judging by the sheer size of the 'cooler.

What shall I do? Ditch the intercooler or trim the front bumper? Damn it, it is with a heavy heart that I ok-ed for the bumper to be trimmed at the sides to clear the piping. Darn it, the grille got to be trimmed off as well. I am not enjoying this at all. Not a teeny weeny bit. This is really distressing.

In the end, it still didn't really fit as well as I expected as the middle part of the bumper is touching the intercooler, it needed to be trimmed as well. I decided against it and will perhaps get it done professionally one day at my painters.

Pic 6: Thanks bro Azman for helping with the trimming

Pic 7: Sob! Sob!

The above hurt a lot. There goes my IMPUL 534S bumper. %$#@^*&#!

Anyway, after the installation and driving the ER34 for a couple of days, I think the boost somewhat crawled up a little bit. The best part is ... there are no lag at all as compared to the stock side mount intercooler. It looked fairly better but the expense to fit it in is still bothering me todate. :(

HKS Type S Intercooler Kit

Pic 1:
Excuse my poor packaging. Did this after a couple of drinks past midnight.

Yesterday was my birthday and I got myself a gift! I purchased a brand new HKS Type S Intercooler Kit from Jeff (thanks bro!). I always wanted a front mount intercooler to replace the wimpish factory side mount intercooler of the ER34.

Also have been pretty sick of cars and motorcyclist taking a peek at my front bumper after they pass the ER34. Is it obligatory to have a huge front mount intercooler on all forced induction cars??

Well finally my wish is realized. I wanted this back in June 2008. Refer this post :P

Pic 2: Opening the box

Pic 3: This is what's inside the big box

The HKS Type S Intercooler Kit (part number 1301-RN093) is one huge mother of an intercooler! Measuring 600mm (L)X 301mm (H) X 65mm (W), I believe this intercooler will dominate the whole front of the ER34. The intercooler is rated up to 450HP which is more than enough judging from my limited budget and plans for the car.

The whole kit comes with:-
1) 1 intercooler
2) 3 mandrel bent aluminum piping
3) 3 silicone hose
4) 7 hose clamps
5) 5 brackets
6) A pack of nuts and bolts

The intercooler utilize a multiple loop shape on the outer fins and a straight through design on the inner fins, thus allowing the pressurized air to quickly pass through. This clever design minimizes pressure drop allowing fast response, and maximizes cooling effect. Being a tube and fin design, this intercooler is also light in weight.

Pic 4: The intercooler

Pic 5: The three pieces of mandrel bent aluminum piping

I'm pretty sure with the enhance flow capacity and cooling efficiency, it's going to perform well over the factory units. I hope the lag (if any) is negligible.

Now got to find time to install this babe in. Am quite worried about it clearing the IMPUL 534S front bumper. Some cutting of the metal bar (what is it called?) behind the front bumper is inevitable though. I really hope it clears the front bumper without any issues at all.

Another issue is the GReddy Oil Cooler. Should I relocate it to a side mount? Hmmmm......

But before I do all this, I've got to get the ER34 engine oil changed. It's already pass it's due mileage! Damn.

Front mounted intercooler ..... yea how I wish

Pic 1: If only........

This is not a mod post but rather a post to express my wish for a front mounted intercooler for the ER34. Been wishing for the ER34 to have one mounted up front instead of the puny factory side mounted intercooler.

Currently when boosted higher than the factory boost level, power will only increase up to a certain level. Any higher boost and the ER34 actually drops in power. This is due to the increase in air intake temperature. With a larger front mounted intercooler, the drop in intake temperature provides a denser intake charge to the RB25DET NEO and allows more air and fuel to be combusted and thus increasing the power output of the engine.

Sigh....talking about air fuel ratio, the ER34 is running pretty lean at the moment. Need to do something really soon. :(

The ER34 is a money sucker!!! Grrr........
